Social Media Etiquette: Why Photo Credit and Respect Matter
RESPECT BEGETS RESPECT. 💙
A little reminder about social media etiquette, mga ka-Bogohanon.
Recently, we came across a reel from another page using a photograph originally taken and published by Bogophoria. While we appreciate seeing content that features our beloved Bogo City, we believe that acknowledging the original creator is just as important as sharing the content itself.
It’s not just about a photograph. It’s about the time, effort, and creativity behind every piece of content we create. A simple photo credit goes a long way in showing respect for the person behind the work.
And this brings us to something we always try to practice here at Bogophoria.
Imagine visiting a restaurant, enjoying your meal, and simply leaving without paying. How would you feel if someone did that to your business?
Whenever we visit a local restaurant for a review or collaborate with a business, we make it a point to pay for what we eat unless a different arrangement has been agreed upon with the owner. Why? Because we believe in respecting people’s hard work and giving value to what they do.
The same principle applies online.
Just because a photograph is publicly posted doesn’t mean it’s free to use without acknowledgment. If you want to use someone else’s original work, ask permission when appropriate and always provide proper credit. Giving credit is an important part of responsible content sharing, although credit alone does not replace permission when permission is required.
We don’t have to compete with one another to promote Bogo City. There’s room for everyone to tell stories, showcase local businesses, celebrate people, and help our community grow. But supporting one another also means respecting each other’s work.
At the end of the day, it’s not just about social media rules. It’s about basic courtesy, integrity, and treating others the way we’d want to be treated.
And well, maybe you know you’ve made it as a content creator when people start grabbing your photos without even asking for permission. 😂
But hey, being recognized is one thing. Respecting the person behind the work is another. 😉
Respect begets respect. Let’s give credit where credit is due. 💙
Always a Bogohanon. ♡
